While the last four years have brought on severe budget challenges for our community, I have grave concerns about our county’s handling of the situation compared to neighboring Henrico and Chesterfield.
I have had the opportunity to visit schools in both counties and have witnessed their students using technology in their classes that Hanover County does not possess. Our students cannot even turn in some assignments because they use Office 2010 to complete work at home, and our school computers use Office 2003.
This gap in technology widens each year, and our students will be at a competitive disadvantage for selective college admissions and in the 21st century workforce unless things change significantly and quickly.
